What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a primary health care profession focused on the diagnosis and treatment of all conditions related to the neuromuscular skeletal system.
Restoring motion and alignment in the spine is the first step in helping the body heal. Chiropractic treatment is a non-invasive therapy which allows the body to heal itself.
Removal of spinal misalignment’s helps restore functionality in the joint segment and reduce inflammation.
The aim of chiropractic treatment is to find the cause of where the pain is coming from, rather than treating symptoms.

What to Expect When Visiting The Chiropractor
- History Taking
In order to find out what is causing your pain and therefore how to treat it is important to ask a few key questions:
- When did the pain start?
- What is the frequency and duration of the pain?
- Where is the pain? Is it referring or radiating?
- What makes it worse/better?
2. Physical Examination
Your chiropractor will perform a few neurological, as well as orthopedic tests in order to determine where your pain is coming from and what could be the cause.
If your chiropractor cannot determine the cause of your pain in the treatment rooms, you will be referred for further tests such as: blood tests, x-ray, ultrasound. If you need further treatment your chiropractor will be able to refer you to the correct specialist in order to help you.
3. Treatment
Chiropractic treatment will be determined according to your presenting symptoms. Treatment generally consists of chiropractic manipulations in order to correct spinal misalignment’s. Along with chiropractic manipulation, treatment will also consist of a variety of adjunct therapies:
- Deep tissue massage
- IFC (interferential current)
- Ultrasound
- Myofascial dry needling
- Kinesio- taping
After treatment you will be given home exercises/stretches and correct ergonomic advise with regards to sitting at work, in your car and sleeping.
In your chiropractic session you will be given the tools to help maintain a pain free lifestyle.
